What Money MOT is

Money MOT is an independent information service with free checks for council tax bands (England), flight delay compensation, contract renewals, parking tickets, tax reliefs and repeating payments. It is not part of GOV.UK, HMRC, the Valuation Office Agency (VOA), the Civil Aviation Authority or any council, and it does not make claims or challenges for you.

It's guidance, not a decision

Our results are estimates based on public data and statistical methods. They can be wrong. Only the VOA decides your band, and only your council decides any refund. Nothing on this site is legal or financial advice. You can challenge your band yourself, free, on GOV.UK, with or without our pack.

A challenge can lead to a band going up as well as down. Read our result and the pack carefully before you challenge, and only include information that is true.

Letters and the challenge pack

• Every check is free. When a check finds a case, you can buy what you need to claim: the flight delay claim letter (£9.99), the parking appeal letter (£6.99) or the council tax challenge pack (£9.99). Each is paid once. There are no subscriptions.
• They are digital content shown to you straight away. At checkout you agree to get it immediately and accept that you lose your 14-day right to cancel once it is shown, as the Consumer Contracts Regulations allow.
• A letter stays open on the device you bought it on for 30 days, so you can come back and edit it.
• If the pack shows our check doesn't support a challenge, or anything you bought fails to load, email us and we'll refund you. Your statutory rights are not affected.

Money MOT Plus

• Plus costs £34.99, paid once, and lasts 12 months from the day you pay. It does not renew automatically and you will never be charged again unless you choose to buy it again.
• It unlocks every letter, pack, reminder and link in every tool on the device you bought it on.
• If you ask within 14 days of paying, we'll refund you in full. Email hello@vakkum.com.
• If you bought a single letter or the pack in the 7 days before, what you paid for it comes off the price of Plus, once.
• Founding members get Plus free while payments are closed. You'll never be charged unless you choose to buy something.
• Plus helps you claim; it doesn't guarantee that any claim succeeds. Airlines, councils, HMRC, parking companies and the Valuation Office make their own decisions.

Our liability

We take care to get things right, but we're not liable for losses from relying on an estimate, except where the law doesn't let us limit liability. Our total liability to you is limited to what you paid us.
